For those who say, "Oh, I'm too old to do this." or "Oh, it was never meant to be." no one ever got anywhere saying that. If you think that you simply cannot do it, for any reason whatsoever, just look around. Look how far humans have come. Look at what you're reading right now. Think of how many people were behind the thoughts and ideas of the computer that you're using, or the internet that this blog uses to convey information to others. The countless hours of losing sleep and all the algorithms. And that's for just one thing. What differentiates humans from the rest of the animals on this world? Our mind, right? But were we to not use our minds and constantly give up, would we have paved roads where once, it was densely populated with trees, have complex social behaviours, use dangerous chemicals for our own advantage (even create new ones), be the only animals that have a variety of ways of using the environment to our advantage and create electricity from multiple sources and overall, conquer the globe? No.
It all began with one person. Don't let anyone ever tell you that you can't just because the idea is too big of one. Perhaps you can't do it all alone, but you've got to set off the spark. If not, who else? Who knows if anyone would ever have your idea again and how much your idea could have helped everyone? Why not make a change in the world while you can? You're more powerful than you might think.
This applies to a lot of things in life. This includes one thing that we are all familiar with: global warming. You will always see the ones that say "If I turn this one light off, what difference does it really make? What difference do I make?" To tell you the truth, not much. But if you continue to turn that light off, if your friends see you doing so and they get in the habit, then they pass that on to their friends and the parents soon learn and it keeps getting passed around, soon, it becomes very exponential. Don't believe me? Watch bacteria divide. Even better? Watch how contagious laughter is. It's the same thing with an idea. If you have a radical, even crazy new idea but you think it can work, yet you think that you can't make it work and you wonder "If only someone else..." you're wrong. You can get things going. Microsoft came out of a garage, Facebook was an idea of a student and Twitter came out of nowhere. If you initiate something, even something as simple as a club, or perhaps something as complex as a new form of transportation, you will - intentionally or unintentionally - set off a chain reaction that will quickly pick up speed.
Humans are social animals. When someone does something, others quickly copy if they see that it is beneficiary. A lot of the things we do on a daily basis are contagious. Perhaps this is due to when our ancestors were living and this was a necessity of survival. No matter, it is very useful for modern interpretations.
I think everyone should have the opportunity to make their dream a reality. Perhaps we should be given more tools and be more educated in how to do so. Yet, at the same time, perhaps some don't realize their full potential. As always, let me know what you think in the comments.
After all, we all are powerful. After all, we all are human.
I agree with you completely. It may just be human nature, but we're lazy and therefore undermine the ability of the human mind. If there's a problem, there's always a solution; Where there's a will, there's a way. We've just gotta get up and search for it.
