Since I was a kid of early age, one of my most frequently asked questions was "What is God?" As time went on, another question got added to the previous one: "Why do we live?" The answers that I got, be it from parents or from teachers, were simple "No one really knows." These questions have baffled mankind for thousands of years. In that case, I assume that all we can really do is hypothesis and build upon one another's ideas, for that's what life is all about. In every single case in life, all we have are theories. Who is to say that what we think is absolutely proven true?
God. In short, He is an all-powerful being that governs everything. From the Earth to our Galaxy, from our Universe to multiple dimensions (of which we know very little, if anything, about). More will be addressed in the following paragraphs.
Why do we live on this Blue Planet, a relatively small one compared to other planets in our Solar System, which being a infinitesimally small part of our Milky Way galaxy, which is only one of the thirty galaxies in our Local Group, being inside the Virgo Cluster, home of at least hundreds of galaxy groups and cluster, which is one of the millions of superclusters in the observable universe? It seems that the reason is to serve one another, at least for this century. In short, to help others, for this generation.
If we are to assume all of the above, we come to a question of "Why did God create us in the first place?" Great question. No answer. But what, was He bored and decided "Hey, I know. Why don't I make some kind of life on a random planet after I create a universe? And just for fun, I'm not going to guide them openly all the time. That ought to keep me entertained." Not really. Of course, the previous analogy is that coming from a human. That being said, no one can comprehend what God thinks and why He does what He does, because we simply cannot reach such a stage.
Yet, we can make an educated guess. In my eyes, it was all to prove Lucifer (the devil) wrong. As I'm sure most of you know, the story goes that Lucifer was once one of God's most prestigious angels. Yet, once God created humankind, Lucifer decided not to bow down to humans as the other angels did, because he saw himself as a higher being than humans, him being made out of fire and humans of mud, thus he disobeyed God. Which in turn made God extrude Lucifer out of heaven. Lucifer told God that to prove to him that humans are not worthy, he will make them do unmoral things and in turn, the humans would go to hell. Come judgment day, we will see how wrong he was. This is why God sent humans to Earth.
In my previous post, I had described our reason for existence vaguely, which I shall build up on now. As we develop to work with one another to create the perfect world, little by little, we find more evidence of God. Ask any famous scientist and they say that God exists. The reason being that they've studied what God has created so deeply that they see all the order in the universe cannot be simply random. So, as we plough our way into the perfect society, we come up with more evidence of the existence of God as our scientific knowledge exponentially increases, due to all humans working together in harmony. As time goes by, we gather more and more evidence until we come up with the ultimate piece of knowledge that God exist. At which point, judgment day will come and the God will say to Lucifer "See? They are worthy. They found something that they could not prove existed but knew it did without any outside help. They're more than you give them credit for." So, in conclusion, God will be satisfied and Lucifer proven wrong.
Allow us to backtrack a little bit. If we were created before Lucifer even objected, why were we created at all? Why were Lucifer and the other angels created? Surely not because God was "lonely," for He says Himself that he needs no one. He is the almighty and there was never anyone or anything before Him nor will there be after Him.
After many months of coming up with theories to compensate for this, I've recently come up with one that satisfies all of the criteria. We are all a part of God, be it angels or humans. We are simply walking remnants and pieces of God, even though a much larger portion of Him exists throughout the universe. This explains why we are alive while rocks are not, while diamonds or graphite is not, even though both are made up of the same principle atoms (carbon). Although we have organelles and most importantly, a brain, that separates us from non-living things (among other things), when one steps back, all the brain is is electrical impulses. There has to be something more than meets the eye, otherwise, computers would be alive. If that were the case, if one day, we could make a robot that could grow, reproduce and think for itself, we would have created a being. But in my eyes, that wouldn't be so. Creating a being isn't as simple as that. It involves something that is out of this world. That is out of our perception of understanding and comprehension (at this moment). A spirit. If this is the reason why we are alive, it is the link that connects the two "eyes" we have been given to observe the life that we live: science and religion. No longer does one have to be separated from the other. They are now interconnected.
Although this does not explain all of the phenomenon of life, I believe that it might get us just one step closer to getting there. Perhaps a person, somewhere in the world can connect one of the pieces of the puzzle after reading this blog and after being given that information. After that, someone picks up where s/he left off, and so on and so forth.
For after all, that is what life is all about: improvement.
The newborn baby lacks consciousness. The consciousness is developed as the memory is built up in the course of life. Your only way of distinguishing yourself from the other people and your environment is the huge content of your memory. If for any reason the memory is paralysed or lost, the consciousness disappears once again. It is highly important to distinguish between human memory and computer memory. We are conscious, and also conscious of our consciousness. Machine memory is not consciousness.
ReplyDeleteObjects arent alive, because they basically have no memories, no experiences are gathered together to form a consciousness. Which is why objects And machines/computers are not alive.
I highly doubt were spirits. With this information, your pretty much a DVD thats getting information burned onto to it, as your life progresses. Up to a point, where you become conscious of yourself at a young age.
0_0 Im kind of surprised how this makes sense... but okay.
I think that using a DVD as a metaphor for a human being is, although creative, also a bit undignified. You support this conclusion with the premise that a human baby does not have consciousness, and ultimately is a blank slate / unaware until a memory is imprinted on its mind. Prominent psychiatrist Dr. Stanislav Grof would disregard this unscientific claim, in favor of his findings on what are called "perinatal experiences". His research into perinatal experiences, shows that unborn babies do learn, experience, and form important brain structures in the womb, some becoming the subconscious blueprint for our behaviours in life. The experience inside the mother's womb can be beautifully described as a unitive and wholesome experience, where separation and division is completely unknown. The baby still has experiences before she is born! The subsequent separation from the womb of the mother, therefore, becomes one of the most traumatic and shaping events of one's life, according to Dr. Grof. This is a remarkable finding. It shows that there are very unique states of being even before we are brought into this world. I strongly recommend you get a copy of one of his books that are published on the subject, or view his lectures on YouTube. He is a prominent figure in the field of transpersonal psychology (study of self-transcendent experiences)
